Deadline for Endorsement by AANPCP is June 1st, 2012

May 2012 - The June 1st deadline for application for Endorsement of Adult, Family, and Gerontologic Nurse Practitioners by American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) is fast approaching.

This option has allowed Primary Care NPs who were certified prior to the availability of a comparable certification examination offering by AANPCP, and certified by an approved and comparable national certification body other than AANPCP, the ability to apply for Endorsement without having to test. This option for Endorsement by AANPCP has been available for many years and will no longer be available after June 1st, 2012.

If you are an Adult, Family, or Gerontologic NP who wishes to be certified by AANPCP, you must submit an Endorsement Application AND meet certain requirements.

Mandatory requirements for Endorsement by AANPCP without having to test are:

    Adult NPs or Family NPs
  • Have been certified with ANCC since January 1st, 1995.
  • Have maintained that certification since that date without any lapse.
    Gerontologic NPs
  • Have been certified with ANCC since January 1st, 2007.
  • Have maintained that certification since that date without any lapse.

If you meet the above requirements for Endorsement by AANPCP and would like to request an application, please email your request to certification@aanp.org or fax your request to 512-442-5221. Include your name, your NP Specialty, and date of initial certification. The application process MUST BE started no later than June 1st for Endorsement consideration. If you have further questions, please contact Certification at 512-442-5202.
