Applicants must create an Online Profile to apply for certification. To begin the application process, select "Apply" on the Home Page.
Applicants must enter their legal first and last name when creating an Online Profile.
The legal name entered in the Online Profile is the same information AANPCB transmits to Prometric, the testing vendor, once a candidate is determined eligible to test. This information must exactly match the name printed on the acceptable government-issued identification presented at the testing center.
Failure to enter the correct legal first and last name may result in the candidate being unable to test and may require additional fees to correct or reset eligibility information. Applicants are responsible for ensuring their legal name is entered accurately at the time the Online Profile is created.
Applicants must complete all required sections of the application and submit all required documentation before the application can be reviewed.
Applications remain in a hold status until all required information has been submitted.
Once submitted, applications are reviewed for completeness.
Applicants may monitor their application status through their Online Profile.
When an application is approved, AANPCB will transmit eligibility information to Prometric once eligible to test. Eligibility timing is based on the program completion information entered in the application and completion of all required items.
Once eligibility is granted, candidates may log into their AANPCB Online Profile to schedule their examination by selecting Schedule Exam.
Candidates will also receive an email from AANPCB with detailed instructions on how to schedule their examination.
Testing appointments are subject to Prometric testing center availability.
Eligibility to test is valid for 120 days.
If a candidate does not test within the eligibility window, a request to reset eligibility may be required. Applicants who are not eligible for a reset will be required to submit a new application and pay the applicable fees.
Withdrawal requests and eligibility reset requests are handled by AANPCB.
Candidates with questions regarding withdrawals or eligibility reset requests should contact AANPCB at certification@aanpcert.org
Examination cancellations and rescheduling are handled directly by Prometric.
Candidates may cancel or reschedule their examination by logging into their AANPCB Online Profile and selecting Schedule Exam, or by contacting Prometric directly using the phone number provided in their Approval to Test email notification.
Prometric policies and fees apply.
Detailed information regarding exam scheduling, accommodations, rescheduling fees, and testing center policies is available in the Candidate Handbook and the Frequently Asked Questions.
