Are you graduating from an Adult-Gero Primary Care NP program?

May 2015 - If you are eligible to take the Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) National Certification Examination, you should apply to sit for the A-GNP exam and not the ANP exam. Certification must align with the area of educational preparation and is language of the National APRN Consensus Model. On the same note, to be eligible for the ANP exam, you must have graduated from an accredited Adult Nurse Practitioner graduate program.

It is important that everyone know that AANPCP will be retiring the Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) examination in 2016.

  • Current Adult NPs will not have the option to recertify by examination after 2016.
  • Students currently enrolled in an Adult NP educational program will have a limited time in 2016 in which to test and should speak with their program director.
