COVID-19 Temporary Certification Extension Hardship Request

Individuals who are unable to complete the certification maintenance requirements to Recertify by Examination or Recertify by CE & Clinical Practice due to extenuating circumstances related to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic may request a hardship temporary extension. An extension of time does not relieve the applicant of their responsibility to complete the requirements by the end of the extension period. During the temporary extension, the certification will remain active. The certification will be expired if requirements are not met by the end of the approved extension period. If an application for a temporary extension is denied, an appeal may be filed. Only written requests for a temporary extension or an appeal are accepted.

How to submit a request for a temporary extension:
  1. Submit a written request stating whether you are applying to (1) Recertify by Exam or (2) Recertify by CE & Clinical Practice. Include a complete rationale for needing additional time to meet the recertification requirements due to a COVID-19 hardship. All requests are subject to approval and additional information may be required.
