October 2013 - The election ballot for two positions as a Commissioner of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) opened on Monday, October 7, 2013 and will close on Sunday, October 20, 2013. Ballots were recently sent to the email addresses of AANPCP Certificants and elections are held via secure electronic voting format. Candidates are elected by AANPCP Certificants and must receive a majority vote to be elected Commissioner. This is an important event as members of the Commission are responsible for the development and administration of the National Certification Program. Two candidates representing Family Nurse Practitioners and three candidates representing Gerontologic Nurse Practitioners are on the ballot and current bios of the candidates are included. Elected candidates will assume duties on the National Certification Board on January 1, 2014 for a three year term.
