Adult-Gero Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification receives Accreditation

December 2013 - The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) is pleased to announce accreditation of its Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) Program. Effective December 2013, the Accreditation Board of Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), formerly the ABNS Accreditation Council, granted the initial accreditation. The mission of ABSNC is to seek and recognize high quality specialty nursing certification programs through accreditation - a peer-review, stringent process that programs must renew annually. Accreditation is often required for recognition by employers or governmental agencies and is a requirement for advanced practice registered nurses licensure. Meeting the requirements and standards of ABSNC indicates that AANPCP continues to recognize the importance and value of providing a valid, high quality, reliable certification program for nurse practitioners.
