CEO of AANPCP Announces the New Director of Certification

June 2013 - The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) is pleased to announce that Diane Tyler, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, FNP-C, FAAN, has accepted the position of the Director of Certification, effective May 2013. Dr. Tyler is a professor of clinical nursing and director of the nurse practitioner programs at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. She has been an advanced practice nurse since 1996. A major focus of her practice and research has been with underserved populations, particularly families with overweight children. Dr. Tyler has been actively involved with the AANPCP Certification Program as a Professional Reviewer and with test construction. She currently volunteers as an NP at a school-based health center, where she was formerly the clinic director. She also serves as a reviewer for several nursing and health-related journals.

Dr. Tyler received her BSN from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, her MSN and PhD from The University of Texas at Austin, and her post-masters family nurse practitioner preparation from the University of Texas at Galveston. Post-doctoral education includes a fellowship in primary care sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and the Southern Regional Education Board.

Dr. Tyler joins Rick Meadows, CEO; Kathryn Gomez, Associate Director; and Paul Baca, Certification Manager as the senior management team.
