Disciplinary Policy

Once a candidate has successfully been certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program they may hold themselves out to the public as a certified adult, adult-gerontology, or family nurse practitioner. With regards to this, a procedure is in place for consumers and others to bring complaints concerning certificant conduct. The procedure regarding disciplinary action is located in the candidate handbook.

Causes for disciplinary action include such things as fraud, misrepresentation of the credential, conviction of a felony or other crime of moral turpitude related to professional practice, gross negligence, or willful misconduct in the performance of the profession.
