Q: What is the difference between the "American Academy" and the "American Association" of Nurse Practitioners?

A:The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) certifies nurse practitioners through national certification examinations in preparation for licensure and professional credentialing. AANPCB is separately incorporated from AANP.

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is a full-service membership organization for NP students and NPs of all specialties. AANP provides numerous benefits to members, including access to free continuing education (CE) and reduced registration fees for NP students, candidates, and members attending the AANP National Conference. NOTE: Your AANPCB Certification Number is NOT the same as your AANP Membership Number.
